Default Help Identifying Cap Badge

I was hoping someone could help me identify the cap badge in this picture.

I've spent the evening looking at British army regimental cap badges but I couldn't match it to anything.

The man in question is my great, great grandfather and I know little about him except that he was born in Barrow in Furness to Irish parents.

Royal Artillery. Colourising the image has significantly affected the outline of the cap badge.

Unfortunately that is the way the image was supplied to me but I do agree, it's really thrown the shape off. I've been looking for badges that looked like a crown on top of a shield.

I can see the resemblance with the Royal Artillery.
