Smile Chromed Welch badges

Hi all,

Enjoying some time off work and sorting through my badges. These two are chromed examples of a post-1920 Welch regiment cap badge (K&K 654). I was not aware that any of the Welch regt battalions converted to armoured/RAC units and having read a number of threads on chromed badges I wondered if these were bandsman's badges or copies etc. Both are die-struck and lugged north-south. One has copper lugs and converted to a vertical broach fitting.

Thoughts? cheers and best of the festive season to all, Dean.

It's the sort of pin conversion and plating that is typical of a badge modified to wear on a civilian jacket lapel; often by an ex-soldier.

I also have a broached example I picked up in Carmarthen. I've since been told that they were worn by members of the 4th TF Batt'n which would fit for the location. I presume that they worn by old comrades but have nothing firm I'm afraid.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Many thanks Kevin - a broached, chromed Welch Regiment cap badge worn by 4th TF Batt Old Comrades as a lapel badge.

Cheers Dean
