Default WAAF dog tag

Can anyone help with I.D.ing this dog tag? Strangely, it was in an airman's Service Book.

Fibre, marked '890696 / WAAF / C E /.BODFIELD SS'. reverse: 'DO NOT REMOVE'.

Any assistance much appreciated

I'd like to add that the dogtag was included among a male LAC's service docs so possibly there may have been an attachment.

This serviceman served throughout the war from 1939 to 1945 as an armourer, proficiency 'superior', yet only awarded the Defence Medal. Would this mean that he served throughout the war in a safe location which didn't merit even the War Medal?

He would definitely have been awarded the War Medal as well as the Defence Medal. The War Medal was awarded for 28 days full-time service regardless of where the recipient served.

Strange. his Service and release Book shows Overseas Service as from 28-2-41 to 26-3-45.
