Royal Dragoons Wartime grey beret
During their wartime service in North Africa the Royal Dragoons adopted a grey beret. On their return to Britain for the Campaign in North West Europe they were instructed to wear the black beret then worn by all Royal Armoured Corps units but the regiment's officers turned a blind eye and continued to wear the grey version.
I am looking for a decent close up photo of the grey beret being worn. Can anyone help please? Jon |

Was it worn like it is shown in your first image?

No.... its been flopped the wrong way by the person it belongs to. I forget where I got the image from now (few years ago). The Eagle was worn in the Grey Beret initially..... and once they got into Europe the beret colour changed the Royal Crest was worn. At the end of the War the 1RD wore a grey (blanket) patch behind the Royal Crest.
