RWF warrant officer?
sold as RWF but the cap badge does not look totally correct, though he is a fusilier. I assume he is WOII but the rank was not introduced until 1915 and this picture appears to be pre war.

Great photo, but I agree, doesnt appear to be RWF - RMF? R Innis F? No clue from a photographers address?

First glance at the badge I thought RMF. Outline of a tiger leapt out at me, but the closer you look the harder it is to see. One of those where like the old optical illusion games in magazines you almost need to take a step back to set your eyes to see it.

It must be RMF as the shoulder title is too short for the Skins? Just can't make it out well enough to be sure. What is that stripe on his cuff? That must be a custom made tunic as the pockets are not the standard issue.

I still think from the badge and ST he’s RMF. ST looks a bit too long to be just 2 letters and think I can see an M. |

He is an RSM.
The Crown was worn by them prior to the introduction of the Royal Arms in 1915. regards

This looks like SD economy issue top pockets 1914-15 so a jacket not a tunic. Cannot see rifle patches. Scruffy for an RSM, possibly not a regular, rank very dependent on date and take-up [May 1915 for promulgated change].
More to this one than meets the eye. Possibly a one-off. |

Is that a watch / whistle chain at the 2nd button? He's wearing a lanyard or cord at the left shoulder.
I prepare to be shot down, but is there a possibility that the uniform is a VTC one or similar, made of different cut, fabric, colour to SD? |

he does appear to have a watch chain and a lanyard and also a single medal ribbon, possibly the Victorian LS&GC

I too thought "auxiliary forces" generically. The lace chevron I have seen before, on [from memory] Scottish VF/TF in SD. Anyway, far too scruffy for the Royal Welch. |
