Default Regimental Badges worn before issue of 2nd NZEF Badge

Has anyone ever come across any accounts or seen any photographic evidence where pre-war regimental badges were worn by 2nd NZEF personnel in Egypt or the UK prior to the issue of the 2nd NZEF 'Onward' Badge?

Onward badges were issued to 1st echelon on the troopships, 2nd and 3rd were issued prior to departure.
I have photos of regiment badges on troopships, but nothing in Egypt or UK.

Brendan O'Carroll's latest book, Images of War The LRDG in action 1940-1943, page 28 shows a picture of a T patrol member wearing a SD cap with a 10th Nelson mounted rifles badge, dated 1st November 1940.

In the "The Desert Road" edited by Megan Hutching, on page 187, in a write-up about James Barclay, 8800, Second Lieutenant, 27 Machine Gun Battalion, there is a photo "Desert bathroom. A route march at Helwan, 1940" showing a soldier wearing a lemon squeezer with the NZMGC badge.
