RAD, interesting item, wonder what the size is? Looks yacht pennant like, would expect tassles if it was UK Light Infantry, colours also interesting. Regards Mark

Could be connected to the Royal Engineers as it looks like the Ripon Wakeman's horn. I believe the REs have had a presence in the town at one time, possibly the postal depot?

It is not dissimilar to one the old Royal Engineers Regiments, cant think which one off the top of my head.

I was attached to 38 Engineer Regiment at Ripon and the Ripon Horn was indeed the regimental embalm. Replaced by 21 Engineer Regiment in 2008

Thanks for that ... its is a little over 4' long and 3' wide at the staff .

Thank you all so much for your help .... I think Didier has cracked this as the pennant for the West Kirby Sailing Club , which ties in well as I found it in Wirral . Ah well not so glamorous as I had hoped for !
