Default Opinions Welcome please

I got these two to stick in a frame. When they arrived I noticed they appear to have been chromed!

You can see on the back where the Wm is showing through.

What are your opinions on these 2? Originals that have been chromed and pins fitted or fakes?

Thanks in advance for your comments, Bill

I would say genuine badges, recently made and soldered pins, I think the colour could be from the heat of the soldering iron (going by the pictures) some colour on the fronts too.

They do appear to be original badges; at least they were. Heavily buffed, probably due to the crude method of fixing the brooches which discolored the metal.

Would the loop fitting at the top of the KOSB badge indicate that it was a helmet plate centre?

Possibly modified to be worn by a civilian Pipe Band?

Thanks for the comments, I do believe the KOSB badge to be a HPC Leigh.

CB, I looked closely at the front for heat marks but there are none, I think it's just the reflection in the photographs.

Never thought of the pipe band angle Tim.

Thanks again for your thoughts, Bill
