1st Cadet Battalion - KRRC
Further to Peter J's excellent album photo, these are the badges I have in my collection relating to the 1st CB KRRC.
And finally another postcard. |

Hi Keith,
Great to see those badges and for me particularly, the Guelphic Crown Boss Badge. Speaking to Dave C a while back about the 1st CB we noted that the bugle on their badges, both KC and QC faced the opposite way to other Rifle Regiments badges. I touched on this today with Julian whilst discussing the Boss Badge i have hopefully reserved in his sales thread: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=24583 You may notice that the bugle on this Boos is reversed, I was wondering if this could be attributable to the KRRC Cadets? Any opinions would be welcome! Regards to all Ry |

Great images Peter,
Thank you for posting them. I note that the Guelphic Crown Boss badge is being worn in the photograph and I'm intrigued due to my assumption that the Guelphic Crown was the preserve of The Rifle Brigade. An interesting assortment of insignia on show in this photgraph though, one of the most interesting insignia wise I've seen in a while. Regards Ry |

Reversed bugle, never twigged before. Why? Stops the lying theiving little cadets from pretending to be real soldiers or saves/protects them from the vicious mercies of the regular RSM when they have decided to lose their 'cadet' badges to buy beer in the NAAFI!

All plausible suggestions mate. I remember the RSM in my cadet unit used to scare the life out of me so maybe it was a good form of defence in this situation. Ry |

1st Cadet Battn KRRC
I have a large King's crown pouch badge like the item Keith shows with the reversed bugle and also a similar Victorian pattern with the bugle facing the 'normal' direction (as shown on Keith's small silvered Victorian badge) - no idea why but it seems there was a change somewhere along the lines rather than them always being reversed.

A mosty interesting and infomative thread, just what ( in my opinion ) the Forum should be all about.
