Default Help Identifying Badge

Hi All,

This Badge has me stumped. I think it might be a Driver's Badge but it is a 6Pointed Star rather than the 5 that my reference has for a Driver's Badge. Bill A also suspected it could be a Drivers Badge or some sort of Proficiency Badge.

I could not find a reference in any of my books/materials so hopefully someone here can help identify.

Best,
Mike

Default Star

Could it be Boy Scouts or cubs?

Hi Rob,

I suppose that could be a possibility however the Badge came in a bulk lot of Canadian Military items so I am leaning towards a Military connection.

I am going to google boys scouts/cubs badges and see what I can find.

Thanks and Best,
Mike

Possibly a version of the QMS star.

Hi Rob: Could not find a 6 pointed star in the Boy Scouts/Cubs on Google Images...they are all 5 Star Badges except for a modern 6 Star badge called the Macau (Macao)...link provided: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Macau-Macao-...-/280611220845 . Is there another Badge in their system that I could not find?

Hi Marc: I googled QMS star and the info has it as a 8 point star...but it does share some similarities and could be a version as you say.

Still stumped

Mike

From its construction I would say that it is pre-1940. If this is so it may be the 5-year star worn by the GGFG from ca.1900 to the 1920s.

There is an early ATS rank badge like this but it might have more than 6 points, looks older construction than WW2 though

Hi Clive/Lee,

I too share your opinion that based upon the construction that it predates the Second World War.

Clive, I really like the GGFG possibility with the 6 Pointed star representing the 6 Provinces in Canada in 1872 when the GGFG were authorized. Where on the uniform would this have been worn and is there any photographic evidence of one in use?

Best and Thanks so much,

Mike

Smile Star

The reason I suggested it could be Scout or Cub related is that I wore metal 6 pointed stars on my cap when in the cubs back in the 1950's.

I also have a WWII KRR officer's badges, ID disc on chain and all his Boy Scout badges, he must have been proud of his service in both organisations.

Hi Rob,

I agree the KRR group is something both you and he should be proud of.

Thanks for the Boy Scouts/Cubs suggestion...I was looking for all input and am grateful to everyone who contributed to help narrow done the identity.
