My year just got better
Slightly of topic for others but not for me.
MM and pair to a chap from my main theme of collecting from my home town of Stone Staffordshire. Sgt Harry William Brough RFA he lived les than a 5 minutes walk from my parents house. I have a copy of his service record which shows he was wounded Gassed 18/07/17 copy if Gazett birth death records and 1901/11 census showing him as a Plummer. Sadly no copy of citation or photograph as yet. So more research to do. If any one has any memorabilia to service men or women from Stone please think of me. Regards to all Stephen |

Hello Stephen
I worked in Stafford for a while and recall Stone as a very nice place. I have an idea there was an Office Manager there (a very helpful lady). I think her surname was Brough so I imagine there are quite a few people with that name in your local telephone directory. You may find helpful records in your local records/archives office (I think it used to be in or around Tipping Street Stafford if my memory is correct) You could dig around there, perhaps having got names off the local War Memorial etc. It would certainly be worthwhile looking through any newspaper records (often kept in the local records/archive office on microfiche) - painstaking but rewarding. Good luck with the research. All the best Mike |
