Actually had a photo of it.
Also an 1831 pattern French infantry hanger, although it may well be a Crimean War period Russian one - I believe that they were the same, I can't tell the difference & what's visible of the markings doesn't mean anything to me. |

Apparently the actual flag attached to the staff wasn't of any import to the French - what mattered was that Eagle.

Just reading a bit more about the captured eagle after stumbling on information about the Royal Anglian Regt eagle arm badge. Should probably know a bit more about my "local" regiment

Should you head to Duxford there is some good stuff but not really about the formation of the Regiments that made the Royal Anglians. I took pride in sewing my eagle onto my No2s back in 1998. It is on one of my albums.
