Default Most unusual regimental item?

Six place settings (9 pieces each) of regimental cutlery (stainless steel flatware) most probably from the officer’s mess of the 92nd Gordon Highlanders. For more details see; http://arnhemjim.blogspot.com/search...&max-results=7

Not sure on this one, certainly unusual. A full size side drum, with 2/nd Welch badges painted on it and battle honours. I found an identical example that was sold as Royal Welsh but that does not really make sense.

http://www.tennants.co.uk/Catalogue/Lots/57471.aspx

It was sensibly priced -less than the example in the link- and displays well but I wonder if it is either unfinished Welch Regiment or perhaps a TA band example or even a prop?

Zob.

I agree. That is not a badly shaped and mirrored 3, but a ٤ and that is the Arabic numeric character for 4.

Default Flask

I had to tip the flask out of focus to stop the reflection from the flash.

Default N I H?

Hi, a flag recovered from a tank on Longstop Hill, Tunisia. The only tanks on Longstop were from the NIH as far as I know, but HMT Lark does not sound like one of their names. Maybe someone can help identify, best wishes Mike

As you know that is the flag indicating "Action". It is illustrated (yellow segment to the top) in Vol 4 of Warpaint by Dick Taylor (and credited to you?). In the same publication there is little detail on NIH tank naming conventions other than use of names beginning A, B, C for Squadrons. It suggests Bird's names for 1 Coldstream Guards RHQ and Recce Troop.
Letter "L" is attributed to 12 RTR Churchill equipped and in Tunisia.

Hi Tim, I think you are right with the 12 RTR, they got hammered at Cactus Farm and Sidi Abdallah, which were near Longstop Hill and it is often used for the whole battle in that area, thanks for that information again, shows the need for lateral thinking, best wishes Mike
