Default QARANC Cap Badge - Good or Bad

I've had this QARANC cap badge for a little while, and the length of the lugs and their being footed makes me suspicious of it even though it has the Firmin mark. What do you all think?

.

Thanks for the feedback!

Terry

I think it is a good modern badge, just what it is supposed to be

An officers badge - QARANC - JSP768 Description: Insignia, Organisational. Cap. Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. Officers. Gilding metal and nickel silver. Gilt and silver-plated, gold and silver. Pattern No 30357 NSN 8455-99-130-3873

Officers’ cap badges generally are fitted with longer lugs for fitting to the head dress.

Thank you all, learned a good bit here. It was the long sliders that was throwing me off, and that they were footed. I doubt it's the gold and silver version, but which of the other two do you think it is?

I think the lugged badge is silver-plate & gilt as per officer standard. I think the slidered badge is a PRI one.

The lugged badge is the Officers' No1 Dress hat badge.

The slidiered one is a 1950s other ranks one made before it was issued in anodised aluminium.

A generalisation, but I think the quality of manufacture and finish of issued officers cap badges has deteriorated over the years. This is possibly due to changes in materials, particularly base metals and plating.

JSP768 Descriptions vary and sometimes seem ‘generous’. For example the QARANC officers cap badge: “Gilding metal and nickel silver. Gilt and silver-plated, gold and silver”.

On the other hand, badges sold through President of the Regimental Institute (PRI) unit shops are usually superior to the issued item.
