NZMC to New Zealand Medical Corps, Dates please
Hello
I understand the Royal was added on this badge in 1947, BUT can someone please tell me the date range of the NZMC badge vs the New Zealand Medical Corps bade as per my two attached photo's. Even our NZ Te Papa Museum web site seems to be barking up the wrong tree when it comes to the "Royal" NZMC badge set, http://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/ob...px?irn=1215516 Cheers Corey |

Hi Corey
This was discussed on the Militarianz site at http://militarianz.freeforums.org/post7260.html#p7260. This site is an excellent NZ site with lots of information relating to NZ militaria. Regards John |

I'm glad I'm definitely not the first to be scratching my head on this one.
By the comments on that page would I be correct to say I have two options. Used during the end of WW1 (by atillathenunns) “New Zealand Medical Corps” scrolled badge (most common badge) being issued during the war. Used after WW1 (by atillathenunns) 1923 - New Zealand Medical Corps (Oldham 8/168) Would most collectors display this badge set (New Zealand Medical Corps) as WW2 era? -- Cheers Corey Last edited by Corey; 10-12-13 at 06:40 AM. |

The following thread I posted a few days later is correct, but sadly it is long overdue to be completed. http://militarianz.freeforums.org/ne...ges-t1487.html I do have enough research information to fill in the NZMC gaps from 1911 to 1953, just lacking pictures of the rarer NZMC badges, but a lot comes down to finding time to put it all together. New Zealand Medical Corps worn circa 1911 onwards NZMC worn circa 1914 onwards |

Images of brass die cast NZMC cap and collars. Manufacturer of both cap and collars is Stokes and Sons Melbourne. Oldham 8/207 and 8/223. I also have a bronze set by the same manufacturer if you would like images.
From left to right: Cap and collars, cap and collar Brent, I hope that the images I have posted are useful in your research. If you want higher res ones please pm me. Unfortunately I can't help you with the later badges as I have restricted my collection to those units which served at Gallipoli. Regards John |

John these are good to see, they will be helpful to identify different NZMC badges that show up in WW1 photographs.
I would also be interested in seeing pictures of 3/47 and 3/48 if somebody has these badges in their collection. |

Hi Brent,
Here's a .bmp file of 3/48. I hope you can convert to a .jpg file. If not, I'll scan to .jpg format. Cheers, Tinto |
