Drummer or Fifer's badge.
Not a rare badge and when you have seen one you have seen them all. However, this one has a red backing mounted on card. The card seems to have been fashioned from an Oxfordshire County, Air Raid Precautions, Borough of Abingdon leaflet.
Not something that you see every day and I am sure that it adds little to the monetary value of the badge, but it is nice to have some history. |

Some - probably only a few - ARP services had bands so there may be a connection?
Hammersmith CD orders of 1942 record the existence of a band and this bandsman's badge on a blue BD was recorded in an issue of The Formation Sign in July 2008. Jon |

I was thinking that a regular soldier, slightly post WW2, qualified as a Drummer and wanting to mount his badge on red felt, used one of his father's A.R.P. post cards as backing.
