Default Helmet Plate

Hi Gents,

Another badge from my friends inherited collection.

Would appreciate opinions on what I think is a Royal Engineers gilding helmet plate.

Thanks

Kevin

The crown has either been repaired or as seen on other helmet plates, a QVC has been replaced with a KC.

Billy and Parabellum,

Thanks for your replies.

Was it normal practice to recycle helmet plates with the latest crowns during the life of the badge?

It's not common by any means, I first thought the plate below was converted, but I think it's a repair.

The Edwardians were into recycling before it became fashionable and global warming was the Kaiser rattling his sabre, many units especially Volunteers had KC's soldered in the place of QVC's.
