German Insignia
Is there a Forum member who has a knowledge of the metal breast badges worn by the German Armed Forces in the World War 2 period? I'm seeking a couple of identifications. Thanks. Mike

Why not post them as images Mike and we'll all have a go. It could be an interesting discussion with much to learn?

I was going to suggest the same, but I know some member's don't like the nature of the content; and make comments. But I would like to see them as I have a small collection of combat awards I like to pick up now and again.

Looks to me like the Eastern Peoples Award. Known as the OstVolk Award.

Not banned Colin, but it creates a long list of comments etc. Mike could still post them if he wish's.

They do indeed, first class I would guess as they appear to be pin back rather than on ribbons.

Thank you all for your help. Both were pinbacks. Next time I visit the owner I'll make time to photograph the reverse and look for maker's marks. Mike

No problem Mike. What others with with them that you said you managed to ID.

The others comprised two Iron Crosses (the basic design without swords, oakleaves etc!), a motherhood medal, two Close Combat badges, a Luftschutz medal and half of a sniper's lanyard badge. Essentially undisturbed since 1945 and retrieved from Germany by an RASC Lt Col. Mike

Hi Mike, nice set. Is that the close combat clasp or the combat assault badges. The one's with the rifle.
