Cameron Highlanders belt buckle?
I have been given a Cameron Highlanders belt buckle i think! it has the Cameron Highlanders badge but instead of Cameron on the scroll it has Waterloo instead, it is mounted by a pin through the back of what i would discribe as a brass belt buckle.
Can anyone help me by dating this item and if it is a belt buckle? It was left to me and i have been told it is quite rare is this true? Thank you in advance Regards Brett |

There was a Waterloo Highland Regiment within the British Forces, and IIRC there was a Waterloo Regiment in the history of the Highland Light Infantry of Canada. Maybe soomeone else can post much more in depth information than I can, however, I would assume if the scroll says Waterloo and not Cameron, it would be Waterloo Regiment.
Any chance for a picture or two of this item?

Camerons badge
I rather think this is a badge from a Cameron Pipers Cross belt and if so is quite scarce, I am sure someone will be able to confirm

Camerons belt buckle
The badge on a brass plate is shown on Page 243 Of "The Queens Own Highlanders -Seaforth and Cameron" by Angus Fairrie and is described as a soldiers waist belt plate.
I still think the same device was worn as a cross belt ornament by pipers of the Camerons, I am sure someone else will be able to say if that is correct. P.B. |

Regards Brett p.s Could anyone guess a rough price for one? not that i would sell it as it was left to me, but oviously it will be left to my children and i would hate them to be ripped off. Thank you once again.

Camerons belt buckle
Brett,
As no one else has posted a reply I will give my opinion, I have to say this might not be a particularly scarce item, but if it has a familiy connection, then it is priceless. I would suggest a value of, in the region of say £20-£25. Hope this is not too disappointing. P.B. |
