Alas there was no all brass economy.

The sheer volume of the 1VB badges (on ebay and on well known dealers and auctions sites) suggests that they are being faked in large numbers. This badge was worn 1905-08 so with a 3 year life span and a battalion's worth made, I am surprised by the 20 or so I have seen for sale in the last 2-3 years.

I keep a reference album of fake Vbs for comparison. This is 99.9% from a repro die.

Hi Alan I didn't see the any reason for an economy not to be one piece but if there isn't one it makes sense
the 1st VB just spent ten minutes comparing the badge to your picture I gave up flicking between my photo and yours there are some features that are similar but some that seem different the most notable the seeding on the south africa tablet which looks very course on your picture how close to the originals are the fakes
