Default French Commandos - WW2?

I know very little about this badge. A mate of mine told me that it was worn by French commandos attached to UK Commandos in WW2 and then continued to be worn post war. Does anyone have any more info?

Mick, what you have there is the cap badge for France's Commando Mairine (Naval Commando). This is worn on a France's version of the green beret. This particular model is the one worn today and is modeled on the WW2 model designed by Commando Maurice Chauvet in 1943. The first issue, made in the UK, had a flat back and had an issue number (think so).
I have included a website showing the original cap badge (upper left) and some modern ones.

Thanks Peter!

Out of curiosity, how rare are both these badges and any idea what they would be worth?
