The Aussie Archives may have more info on him

I have found out a bit more:

William John LEAN, munitions worker # 3318

If you look in the Australian Archives search engine (record search)

https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/Sear...sicSearch.aspx

and put in "LEAN" and between 1914 and 1919, I think it's on the second page, or there abouts. You can request his records, but I've never done it so don't know what is involved, or if there is a cost.
