A very nice patch.
Probably worn by an infantryman or Light Horse soldier (who served at Gallipoli in 1915) and who later transferred to the AFC. Mick

I must say that I made the same supposition as Mick.....that it was some bloke that wanted to get out of the mud.
Doesn't the "A" tell us that the wearer was an original ANZAC, having served on Gallipoli? Was there an AFC presence on Gallipoli? A very nice patch, indeed. How do you interpret it, blackdraggon11? Donny B. |

There was no AFC presence at Gallipoli.
Their first presence was in Mesopotamia and later Palestine and the Western Front. Whilst obviously I can't be certain (unless you know who the patch came from) my hypothesis is that it was from a bloke who was in the trenches at Gallipoli and later joined the AFC. I know quite a few AFC soldiers came from the infantry and Light Horse. Mick Quote:
