Hi, I don't have all the badges that were illustrated here, but I have these to add. The officers badge reads Transvaal Scottish Regiment, the other badges read Transvaal Scottish Volunteers. The buckle reads Transvaal Scottish. The small badge on the left has 4 small holes in. I believe that this badge was mounted on a dirk. Enjoy. Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew,

very nice and some unusual ones; would the Officer's badge have been privately made, do you think? I havent seen one before that reads "Transvaal Scottish Regiment!

regards,

Iain

South African Scottish officers gilt glengarry badge.
Large 49 mm badge of high quality with Murray of Atholl backing
worn by officers of Transvaal Scottish company.

WWI 4th SAI; very nice and at 49mm larger than the normal large size cap badge.

A Transvaal Scottish officers cap and badge.

This specific cap was worn by an officer at Potchefstroom in 1915 before the S.A. Scottish insignia and uniform were issued.

Lieutenant General J. Mitchell-Baker was an erstwhile member of a number of Scottish Regiments.

I have his Deed of Commission issued to him by the Transvaal Colony in 1908.

During the 1922 strike or "Rand Revolt", the Transvaal Scottish band were deployed immediately in their "green uniforms" at Dunswart and at Brixton Ridge.

This led to damage to their uniforms which took the regiment years to recover.

The band had just returned from a Caledonian Society gathering in the Eastern Cape.

As a very young man, my grandfather was a member of the Transvaal Scottish Regiment and he was mobilised for active service during the strike.

Hi Will,

as always you have a very nice range of items to display, I do like the sporran particularly.

Thanks Iain,

I will do more postings over the next few days.

Unfortunately, I am in a part of the world where the internet connections are not good.

Regards,

Will

Hi William
What are the dimensions of this badge, is it the same as the sporran badge?
Thanks. Cheers,
Alex
