Default RAF Police Auxiliaries cap badge 1980-ish

HI, There were two on evil bay quite recently and went for about £30 each. These were the first two I have seen. I am also seeking these badges in Kings and Queens crown for my own collection of HM forces related police and security. Please look at my album of these.
Hope you get lucky, Regards Jerry.

When did such units cease to be? I did not know they exsisted during my service, but then I did not venture further then Germany and NI. Also in which countries were they used? Any links to images of the badges they used? Cheers, Paul.

You can find a couple of shots of the badges at http://www.britairforce.com/raf_capbadges_1.htm
Hope that this helps.

I know such units came to be after WWII and have seen mention of them in the 1960's, but guess they died out as 'the Empire' shrunk. Would be interested in any pictures, if their uniform was similar to the RAFP, in which countries they were used and when they ceased to be. Cheers, Paul.

Default RAF Police Auxiliaries

There is very good article at http://www.rafpa.com/ConciseRAFPHistory.pdf written by Stephen Davies the author of a number of books relating to the RAF Police.
Additionally one of the hats worn by the RAF Police Auxiliaries in Singapore can be seen at http://www.britairforce.com/imagepag...ts_pol_aux.htm

Thanks for the links. I have his 1st book and RAF Police Dogs book, but have been unable to find much other than the info in the your Links. Never heard mention of auxiliaries during my time in Germany, '85-'88, but never visited Berlin. Cheers, Paul.

This badge gets a quick on liner and a line drawing in Ch. 13 the book 'Badges and insignia of the British Armed Services'. I picked up a chrome Q/C version during one posting to Cyprus (1985 I think). All of these people were locally employed and wore the same uniform as the Army Depot police, black police uniform and hat in winter, KDs (stone) in summer.
