Can anyone ID my Australian relaitve's uniform, please?

He was born in 1862, so I would imagine this photo dates anywhere from about the 1880s onwards (???)

Thomas Charles Jones, lived in the Mulwala area of NSW - any help very much appreciated.

Since reading your reply, I have tried to find images online of Australian Mounted Police, to compare Charles' uniform with, but have had no success. Don't suppose you have any, at all?

Hi Peter,
I'll have a look around -- I'm sure there's something out there. But also remember there would be no such thing as the Australian Mounted Police; all police forces were state-based, and still are even after federation in 1901. So you'd have to look for, say, NSW Mounted Police, or Victorian, Queensland, or whichever.
