Langridge`s Dress Distinctions
Mention is made by Laurie Archer of Langridge`s Dress Distinctions in his "Notes for Military Badge Collectors".
He mentions a number of these publications for Cavalry Regiments from the late 1950`s and 1960. Has anyone got any copies or seen any of them and were they prepared for just Cavalry Regiments ? It seems that according to these publications many members of cavalry regiments were still wearing kings crown cap badges at the time the publications were prepared. P.B.

as far as I know all were by Bernard Cox and were cavalry only, I think there are 12 volumes published 1959-1962. Regiments included; 2 DG 3 Carabiniers 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards 5th RIDG 4 Hussars 7 Hussars 8 Hussars 9 Lancers 10 Hussars 11 Hussars 12 Lancers 15/19th Hussars I have copies of the 5RIDG & 8KRIH and I have seen the 4th/7th RDG. I am sure more details will follow from those more knowledgeable. John |

I have got the 9th Lancers and 3rd Carbs......
The chap who did these obviously visited the QM stores of the Regiment he was describing. There is some great detail and very accurate drawings. The books are all published in 1962 and the information in them is basically what the regiments were wearing at the time.

I think you've just about covered it, the only thing I would add is there were up dated versions and supplements published for some of the regiments. They are still available at a reasonable price from s/h book dealers on & off line. Rob |

Langridge's Dress Distictions
Just a quick query on Bob Cox's very detailed booklets on the badges and uniforms as worn by the cavalry regiments published 1959-1962.
To date I have: 2DG 1960 3Carabiniers(POW DG) 1962 4/7RDG 1961 5RIDG 1959 7H 1959 7H Supplement 1959 QOH 1960 8H 1959 9L 1962 11H 1960 12L 1960 15/19H 1961 I see from John Mulcahy's summary elsewhere on the Forum that I am missing those of the 4th and 10th Hussars. My query is therefore are we certain that these exist and has anyone seen copies as I find they are very elusive? Any clues would be very much appreciated. Best wishes Gordon |

The British Library appear to have them The Dress Distinctions of the 10th Hussars, P.W.O. [Illustrations, with accompanying text. By Bernard William Cox. With a supplement.] Great Britain. Army. Cavalry. Cavalry Regiments. Tenth (Prince of Wales's Own Royal) Hussars. Cambridge : Langridge's Military Publications, [1969, 61] and I assume that this is the 4th Hussars The Dress distinctions of the Queen's own Hussars. Cambridge : Langridge's Military Publications, 1960. as distinct from the 7th Hussars publication... The Dress distinctions of the 7th Queen's own Hussars : supplement. Cambridge : Langridge's Military Publications, 1959. link here http://catalogue.bl.uk/primo_library...arch&vid=BLVU1 regards John |
