Default Canadian wearing South Staffordshire cap badge South Africa

Septimus Julius Augustus Denison, Canadian born, was commissioned into the Militia as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 1st Staffordshire Regiment in 1880, which as a result of the Childers' Reforms became the 4th Bn, The South Staffordshire Regiment.

Denison returned to Canada and obtained a commission in the Permanent Force with the Infantry School Corps. The ISC would evolve into the Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry. At the start of the South African War, the RCRI formed a battalion for overseas service. Major Denison was a member of the battalion.

Two months after the battalion's arrival in SA, Denison became an ADC to Field Marshal Lord Roberts.

The photograph below, taken from a souvenir photo of the South African War, shows Major Denison wearing a Staffordshire knot on his cap surmounted by a Sphinx. Not being a cap badge expert, is Denison wearing a South Staffordshire Regiment cap badge appropriate to the era?

Cheers,
Dan.

The illustration and information here http://www.uniformology.com/FORAGE-CAPS-02.html would indicate so.
