Unknown Staffordshire Rifle Volunteers Badge
I'm assuming this badge is for a Staffordshire Rifle Volunteers unit? Every example I have found pictures of appears to have a wreath around the edges of the bugle between the crown and the bugle itself. Any ideas welcome - it will be offered for sale once identified.

I think that I would expect it to be on screw posts if it were a pouch badge

Thanks Peter but my example doesn't (and never has had) any oak leaves along the edge of the upper part of the bugle .

I will photo my badges and post later what size is your badge I have similar on two loops north south that I believe to be pouch badge for Sgt's. It’s smaller than the hat badge. As I understand brass OR’s, white metal Sgt’s, silver Officers I have image of men from Stone Staffordshire during 1860’s I will post later also. Peter hope you are well Regards Stephen |

the badge measures 60mm tall x 60mm wide (approx.) and has three silvered lugs to the rear (at North, East and West). Hope that helps Regards Paul |

Paul,
I think your badge is cross belt badge take a look at items below note cross belt badge with whistle the Oak leaves are an attached item you can see from the rear. Though yours is the same size as headdress badge! my WM pouch badge is much smaller and has no crown Should have said previously brass badge was blackened found in Stafford. Officers cross belt badge was found in Stone and the pouch badge from a clearance at Yarnfield Stone. unmarked Silver badge bought off eBay. Hope this helps yours looks to be WM and not Silver? Personally I don't think you'll ever know, Staffordshire had around 40 RV Corps. Kent collectors suffer the same frustrations.

Thanks Stephen , that's really helpful. Mine is definitely white metal and has never had any oakleaves or wreaths attached anywhere. Are your cross belt badges lugged or screw post fittings? Can't help but think that the lugs on mine are a little short for wearing on a cross belt.
