Douglas Melford Johnson looks like he was a member of the Irish Regiment of Canada. Take a closer look at the Tam/Caubeen as well as his kilt and sporran.
I did a Google search.

Sgt Johnson sports a very interesting shoulder. It is likely dated correctly, as the geometric pattern formation patch for the RHC is not visible. It appears to be a "T" shaped Black Watch title, which includes the Canada at the base. And there is no Canada nationality title on the tunic. There no authority for, or evidence of, the "T" shaped titles in CARO's or the regimental records that I have been able to find. This is the first confirmation of this type of title in wear.
I removed the Picture since I'm at Canada At War and the Info Mr. Phillip provided I will contact the individual and provide him the link.
You got a good eye Mr. Bill.

Good research Phil. I stand corrected. The sleeve is consistent with the Irish in 5 CAD. I believe the date on that photo is incorrect.

Phil, YES most certainly Douglas Melford Johnson was a Member of the Irish Regiment of Canada. I have over the past few years had email correspondence with his son. On my website, there is a photo of Sgt Johnson in the UK, although the date of the photo is unknown, it is certainly just post WWII.

I will have to try to figure out where the topic of Sgt Johnson came from. I guess I missed something somewhere in this topic. LMAO would not suprise me in the least if I missed something.

Ah yes, many thanks Bill. This is the same photo I was referring to on my website. I was given an electronic copy of this photo by Sgt Johnson's son for my site.

Although not dated, I feel this photo is just post World War Two. I think it may have been taken in London. Possibly Piccadilly area?? Wonder if any of our esteemed UK contributers can shed some light on the exact location.

I do not think it is Piccadilly as I just checked it out on Google street view and the buildings do not match up. I checked out Oxford Circus as well and no luck. Here are some images of Piccadilly Circus that my Uncle took while on leave in London in 1943 as well as some matching images I took in 2008.

Hi Recce, In this case it would be better to leave the image and links, as it is part of the flow of the thread. Other posts don't make sense or are hard to follow without the link / image.
Thanks Bill
