Royal Sussex Regiment?
A fairly indistinct photograph but I think that these men may be from the Royal Sussex Regiment. Unless of course anyone knows different.
As always, your thoughts are welcomed. |

Hi HW
I've tried to picture what the badge is but it doesn't look like R Sussex to me. I can't think what it is but it looks too big to be RS, especially on the sergeant's cap. Cheers, Alex |

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd go for KOSB.

Except they are not Scottish hats and the KOSB did not wear side caps or peaked caps.
The mixture of 1908 webbing and 1938 era side caps suggest a 1938/39 date - possibly TF. I initially thought HG but I can't see any HG insignia. Are they in denim ie working battledress rather than the khaki wool one? |

Could they be colonial troops?

I'd go with Royal Sussex Regiment, either that or RAOC. I think some of them are wearing different badges than the others though.

It is this badge that makes me think that it is the Royal Sussex as it has angular lover sides and the top of the plume is visible.

Looks like it could be R.Sussex to me.
