Unfortunately unless the Inland revenue took possession of his fake dies and machines I expect him to reappear in a few months time.

Convicted fraudster and son of a man who also appears to have had a criminal record for fraud. Say no more.

As always eBay willing to turn a blind eye until the last when it comes to fraudsters who make them money.
Ebay would have been well aware of the investigation and the subsequent conviction. Derbyshire Trading Standards would have needed eBay's assistance in respect of archived sales records and indeed eBay would have had to provide statements of evidence producing computer records for submission as part of the prosecution case. These would have been served on the defence to comply with advanced disclosure rules. I would not be inclined to take too much notice of what eBay's alleged response was.

Having dealt with eBay in a professional capacity relating to unconnected investigations I’m included to believe my friends. They were less than helpful and very slow even when relevant paperwork is served, believe me.

When Ebay was allowing reviews and buying guides I published several on how to recognise a genuine badge verses a fake.

I wrote in one of them: 'Avoid Croft ' and ebay took the guide down as a result - I assume the now convicted fraudster and maker of counterfeit badges was upset and reported it.

One remembers the beginning of Crown Imperial and the difficulties of doing anything about the production and sale of fake badges as genuine items.

This prosecution may make the sellers of duds think twice, especially those pin money sellers, but I am not holding my breath, like winning a battle but not the war.

I would hope that his tools have been seized and I would think that because of the fake decorations he manufactured, they likely will have, given the amount of money involved.
