Default Bluestone 42

Morning All,

I'm stuck in the house and have been re-watching Bluestone 42 and it's got me wondering about their unit.

Can anyone tell me what they are supposed to be? Would they be a Royal Engineers unit or a search team in something else?

Their TRF I presume is made up, it looks like a rifles one but not quiet and I'm assuming the IFAS should be an ISAF one, wouldn't the padre would be wearing an RACHD TRF?

I know things are changed for TV but it's got me wondering that if this was a real unit what badges would they have?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

The officer in the picture is wearing an ATO flash making him a RLC Ammunition Technical Officer

The series depicts a RLC EOD Troop during Operation Herrick manned by 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search Regiment RLC which is a specialist regiment of the British Army which includes RE Search Teams. The unit is responsible for providing EOD (Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD)

They would wear the TRF of the RLC and in several episodes are supported by a search team who would wear the RE TRF.

Different troops at different times also wore locally produced unit flashes based on 'Felix the Cat' the unit mascot.

The unit Molly Dawes (Our Girl) is attached to wear a similar patch of red/green/red horizontally, and I've been unable to ID it.

Yes, it would appear very similar. Except that it is totally different!

It always struck me that the Bluestone 42 TRF was, or was a slightly modified form, of the defunct King's Regiment TRF.
