I wonder if it is a made up item, I have never seen a central device obscuring part of the crown before ( both parts of the item do look 100% )

P.B.

I would think this badge could possibly have links to the Manchester Regiment, I have to agree that I think it has been made up and it's unusual that the central device obscures the crown, the name stamping looks like an officers badge probably a collar, but not one I recognise, possibly Colonial.

2 by 1 3/4 inches would be a little large for a collar badge?? Yes that is a question.

This badge has definatly been messed with, the wire on the right has been broken off, and the one on the left has very distinct tool marks, like someone used a pair of serrated pliers to bend it over.

To me this looks very odd. The crown appears to be welded on seperatly. Also I have to agree with what has been said in regards to the obstruction of the crown. Further to that, the Canadian WWII Badge the Calgary Regiment has a Sunburst over the crown... my understanding is this was taboo and upon the unit becoming the Kings Own Calgary Regiment, the Sunburst was dropped.

The crown and star part of the badge are very similar to the RASC badge, if that is what it is then the two holes would be there for fitting the remainder on the badge, the wreath, garter, Cypher and scroll.

the tail on the sphinx is wrong for a Manchester Regiment badge, 'our tail' is almost vertical in comparison

unfortunately the images are gone for this query, but the design of the badge is actually Manchester Regiment! I have seen an example of it and was quite surprised

although i must say the one in the image looked more like someone had tried to copy the design or perhaps repair a damaged one
