Default WW1 Tank Corps Officers Badge...real or fake?

Has anyone any ideas on this badge, if it's an officers or other ranks..? is it a repro or is it genuine, been offered this, but unsure if it's genuine or not.

Question WW1 Tank Corps Officers Badge

Is it cap badge size or a collar dog?

If a cap badge it should surely have blades rather than loops.

IMHO its pure fantasy, but someone has gone to a lot of work to produce it.

Dont like the Gaunt plaque thats cast into the rear rather than being applied and would expect blades on it.

All in all its a no-no from me.

regards

No the actual tank in silver is overlaid on top of the original tank from the badge.

Cheers mate... it seems i won't get a definitive answer on the badge, some appear to say genuine others say not genuine... oh well I'll take a punt at it anyway, its not overly expensive.

Jock,
your badge is a dreadful fake, I would return it to where ever you bought it from!

A SHOCKER!

I havent bought it yet... but there does seem to be difference of opinion on whether it's right or wrong on the other thread, so i don't know what to believe now but i think I'll give it a miss.

Jock,
don't waste your money it is a piece of modern trash!

It is a poorly struck cast copy which is almost true to the original badges but has a spurious Makers Mark, the applied tank is seriously second class, it would more likely have been fitted with blades had it been genuine and the overlay is absolutely FANTASY!

If you go ahead and buy it then you are "Mad"!

Andy
