Smile Salvage Corps

I think this badge dates from WWII, the Salvage Corps were, I think formed to salvage items during the Blitz. I have never seen this particular badge before, there is a version made from plastic to a different design.
What is the badge made from, also a scan of the back and fittings would be helpful.
