It completes my Reguar Infantry 1916 collection but there are still the TF ones to find....could be expensive.

Hi all!

Bringing this one back to the top after a long time... A fellow member on a Greek forum has posted this badge, offering it for sale at quite a low price. We thought that he either has a little gem in his hands and will let it go for a low price or that he will sell an expensive copy/restrike.

I think that it does look ok, but I would really like to hear some more learned opinions from you!

Best regards,
Giorgos

Not the best photos, but that's what we have for now... I 'm waiting him to tell me if there's a sweat hole on the crown.

It appears to be a 1916 all brass economy badge. The long slider is a good sign.

Thank you Alan! I was also told that it does have a sweat hole on the crown.

Best regards,
Giorgos

The photo is not the greatest, but I doubt very much that it has a vent hole rear of the coronet? If a Bim badge the base scroll would have an overlay too! It looks as though it could well be a genuine EI, as Alan says the slider looks right and I have a similar example in my EI album, although it was absent a slider when I acquired it!

Thanks again!

I guess that in that case the price is affected accordingly!

The pics are not of the best quality, the first one was actually a scanned image, showing a different colour.

Best regards,
Giorgos

Sorry Andy, I was typing when you posted your answer and saw it just now!

That's what he told me about the vent hole... My first thoughts were also that it was an EI judging from what I have seen...

Best regards,
Giorgos

Giorgos,
in good condition these are worth £80-100+, from the image it looks a little pitted but if the asking price is not high it is worth a punt and then show some better images once acquired!

I was not actually planning on buying it, we just had some conversation about it, since it was posted on the forum. The seller knew nothing about it, it was allegedly found in his grandfather's storage room. It might be true, but it's nothing more than a story... He was asking about its value and some people were quick to give an estimate between 10-20 euro, so he is offering it for 15...

Thinking that collectors shouldn't be ripping off people who post things for opinions, whether knowingly or unknowingly, I thought that I would ask for some more learned opinions, so that he could adjust his asking price or completely remove it if it was a restrike/fake.

Thanks again for your time and answers, gentlemen, you are always very helpful!

Best regards,
Giorgos
