Default Help to date badges.

Hello all,
I need help in trying to date these badges. Are they ww1 or ww2 and in the case of the Loyal Nth Lancashire is it Boer War?
Also The Cheshire Regt. seems to be a fairly worn impression. Is that because it is sand cast and why would it be?

Any help much appreciated,
Tony.

Hi Tony,
Your Loyal N Lancs is a late Victorian badge, introduced c1896 and probably worn a couple of years after the Queens death. Various insignia was worn during the Boer War on headress including Collar badges, shoulder titles and coloured patches.

Essex & Cheshires both Indian casts, so probably WWII vintage.

The Cheshires is WW1, not WW2, but yes Indian made. Or possibly from somewhere like Egypt? Off the top of my head I can think of at least three battalions that served there, one regular, one TA and one new army.
