Default Help needed please

Hi all,
Could anyone shed some light on the photo please?
I assume it’s a British soldier, photographed post-war, but can’t read his shoulder titles, so have no idea as to his regiment. The medals are also baffling me...obviously he has the 39-45 and Burma Stars, but the third ribbon has me flummoxed. It appears to be one plain colour with a MiD spray attached.
I’d be grateful for any info.
Cheers
Paul

Or a wartime award, the photo apparently being taken before the War Medal was instituted in 1946.

I think that the photograph dates from around 1945/46. I also think that the shoulder title is vital clue. It appears to have an S as the last letter so could possibly read KINGS, R.SIGS, or WILTS. A close up of the shoulder title would be useful.

Unfortunately, it’s a copy of a photo sent to me by my mother, so that’s as good as it gets I’m afraid.
Apparently, it’s a chap that my Nan was engaged to before she met my grandad [or during...you never know with my family].
My mother thinks he might have been a Pole, but not sure.

I’ve tried enlarging the photo but it’s too pixelated.
I don’t think the letter before the ‘S’ is a ‘G’, but it could possibly be a T’?
