Default Sapper Cap Badge WW2?

Absolutely no idea about this beret, cap badge and it’s backing any ideas?

Smile Badge backing

The badge backing is for the Royal Engineers not sure what the badge is, a close up and what type of fittings it has may help ID it.

Looks like a WW2 GS Cap with Indian Sappers & Miners officers cap badge on a RE backing patch.

I agree with Simon, Queen Victoria's Own Sappers and Miners officer's bronze badge on an RE backing as they were Engineers.

Nice unusual headdress.
