First ribbon looks like MM and bar although being of that rank you'd expect it to be one of the earlier ribbons and not just tacked on after.

Hi Simon, I am certainly no expert mate and you are probably correct. All the uniforms came from the same guy but I have no idea where and when he served. The ribbons just came with the uniforms so I assumed they belonged to them
Here is a piccie of both sides.
Your assistance positive or negative is much appreciated,
All the best
Mike

The first ribbon appears to be that of the Military Medal and Bar and is in the correct order as gallantry medals are worn before campaign medals.

Simon and Mike I concur, and Mike badge on left arm is all arms Cdo, I think it is fantasy because:

His first medal is RN / RM champion shot (twice as that ever happened? Cadet Forces medal has precedence so should be last?) He saw service in NI pre 82, did the FI, Gulf War 1, an other Op (mid), Sierra Leone 2000, Iraq 2003 and Afghan at least 2001 - managing to hit every bar entitlement date / Op. And be in at least 2002 for Jubilee. It is possible but highly unlikely, he also had to in his career - an all arms Cdo cse, Pilots cse and SAS selection and reach LtCol in SAS.

Even if above possible he would no doubt wear bullion wings on SD. There would be a couple more tailor fixings for that length of medals (not just two), the tailor also wouldnt have a stray ribbon from group.

Also if shirt and tie came with uniform not Officer pattern and collars look anodised not sp and gilt for Offr.

Happy if quoted wrong to be told so. Just my views, the SAS are supermen, but I believe this configuration of things wrong -including Mike's and Simon's points of mixing rank materials, spacing of rank and adding a Saudi and Kuwait, when it is such a no no with regs - is out of this world.
Merry Xmas
Matt

Hello All

The first medal ribbon has twice been wrongly described as the Queen's Medal For Champion Shot of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines. The medal ribbon in the group shown has a white central stripe (as in the Military Medal), the RN/RM Queen's Medal does not have this central white stripe it has a solid red stripe. RN/RM Queen's Medal and ribbon pictured below.

Paddy,

What I actually said was:-

The nearest ribbon I can see that it might be is "Queens Medal for Champion Shot in the RN or RM"

I didnt clock the central white stripe just showing below the rosette.

regards

Thomas, never seen a pistol worn in with SD in modern times!

Paddy I never spotted the White under rosette either! So MM and bar, indicating he went from the ranks to Officer. Strange to reach Lt Col without a long service medal TFEM or LSGC.

Regards,

Matt

Default uniforms

Hi All
Noticed some uniforms popping up on ebay today from Australia, take it they are youre Mike as the 21 tracksuit top you showed at the start of the thread is one of the listings.
Afraid to say there are a few things wrong with them, titles on a no2? mess dress wing on breast??
cheers
Brian

The No2 dress is not right I am afraid for a whole host of reasons. It's OTT. The medal ribbons are not correct for starters. How many Late entry MM, multiple MID winning, para qualified, commando trained, air corps pilots Falkland veterans do you think there are in the SAS?

Sorry but it is made up. The Kuwiti and Saudi Gulf war one ribbons were never ever worn and especially not by someone with those credentials.

I will concur that the ribbons on the SD are a concocted fantasy group, agreeing with all reasons cited above. And yes, the first medal is MM and Bar. But at least in comparison with most "walt" setups, they are in the right order!

The miniatures on the wrong side of the mess kit jacket are all Australian medals.

Brian,
On the tracksuit top would they not be rifle green 21 AR SAS LCpl stripes with gold? (same patt as RGJ), also then they could wear Pti sword above LCpl as is the norm?

Regards
Matt
