Apparently this one has been put forward by the "Old Comrades" Assoc as a better alternative..... I have to agree.... it is better.

The motto is a standard size ORs Firmin Wm. Motto.

Looks like the regiments have amalgamated.

Anyone know if they have a metal badge? These officers with the Queen look to be wearing the new bullion badge.

The officer wearing the new badge appears to be wearing a composite cap badge of cloth/embroidered and metal.

Default Lancers

The Motto the boys in Combats had on was a composite as were the the officers on a red back ground in dress hat and its the motto as in the new dress regs and yes I am calling it a motto.
It was a fine parade despite awful weather the boys put on a good show was a special site to see over 300 lance tips on parade.
There was no opportunity to get the new motto as they never had enough for serving personal.

Well. what with the "cuts" they probably thought "why give every man a badge, soon we won't need half of what we issued anyway".

Are they wearing plain scarlet caps? There does not appear to be any Lancer piping in the caps? Hussars have the plain scarlet caps. I note the Colonel has the new cap badge. Its not a motto anymore.... as the motto has been taken from it and put onto the embroidery.

Mick thanks for posting the photos. I have seen the Queen on tv in the last couple of days and didnt put 2 and 2 together although I have been trying to work the cap badges out , well now l know.

Mac have you got any photos ?

Having a look at Micks photos some have scarlet collars, some blue and some white. can any one offer an explanation.

Im looking forward to seeing the new badges / Mottoes.

Regards

Phil.

I would imagine that they are still wearing their old regimental number one dress yet , replacing them will be quite a big job.

The Colonel appears to have piping on his cap. Some of the others are wearing the old Queen's Royal Lancers caps and others the 9/12th Lancers caps.

I think it's all very sad indeed, although, HM certainly appears to have a nice brooch on her coat, but, really nothing to smile about whatsoever, call me old fashioned, but, I think it was much nicer when there was a Corps of Lancers to go and join.

There were a lot of uniforms on parade 9th/12th in blues as was. QRL on parade as was. Brig Hughes wore the new uniform of the Royal Lancers. After parade the boys got into the new Mess Dress.

Just my opinion, but what a poorly made, poorly finished and poorly designed final result! No symmetry, poor quality and certainly NOT befitting the fine antecedent Regiments!

Has to be one of the worst badges I've seen produced since the Options For Change badges, which have in general been superior quality items

It looks like two corner flags that someone has drapped a Holoween mask over!

Disappointing!

Andy
