What colour will the new forage cap be? When the 17/21L merged last time their new cap was scarlet with dark blue/black piping and cross welts as opposed to the old dark blue/black with white piping and cross welts. The current 9/12L has a scarlet cap with dark blue/black piping and cross welts. logically, I suppose, it should stay as is as it fits both regiments.

Default Royal Lancers Proposed Insignia

Hi

A little more information for you all.

Shoulder Titles: 'ROYAL LANCERS' in Gold stay-bright metal. All Ranks.

Buttons: Domed Stay-bright, mounted, with Death's head backed by cross lances. Other ranks. Officers & WO1's similar but in brass.

Collar Dogs: Queen Adelaide's Cipher. Gold stay-bright metal. All Ranks.

Forage Cap 'Motto': All metal, nickel silver Death's head backed by cross lances c/w 'OR GLORY' scroll. The lance pennants will be in Red & White enamel and the scroll in Blue. Other Ranks.

Pouch Device: The 'Queens Badge'. Previously worn by the 16/5L. (Queen Charlotte's Cipher & Irish Harp).

Crew commanders: Rolls-Royce Armoured Car in Gold bullion on Scarlet back ground. No.1 Dress WO2 and below. No.2 Dress background Black.

It is interesting to note that at this point of time, there is no proposed WO/NCO Arm Badge. I wonder if we are heading the same way as did the QRL? as they did not have one until well after amalgamation, but we'll see.

If anyone has any questions regarding other proposed dress or insignia please contact me, I will do my best to answer.

Rob

When will the Forage cap Motto be issued? I am looking forward to seeing that.

Tactical Recognition Flash:- A depiction of a Lance Pennon (with tails facing rearward) in worsted material.

Worn on the right upper arm on the issued Velcro blanking patch.

The in-camp version is red and white and mirrors the colours contained in the lance pennant.

The field version is identical in design but is black/green in colour.

* below is what I think the design looks like?

It appears there is a question mark regarding the manufacture of this 'Motto' regarding enamelling, so subject to overcoming that and ratification by the ADC, issue date 2015?

Amalgamation does not take place, I believe, until May 2015, and as far as I know standard practice is to issue new insignia about 4 to 6 weeks beforehand? but could be wrong.

It looks odd to me that there are still remnants of the scroll on the lower bones.
Surely those bones will be scroll less in the final version?

Rgds, Thomas.

It looks like the maker, probably Firmin?, have modified the existing officers Motto without going to the expense of making a new one on the development. I should think that now the design has been approved a new "skull & bones" die will be made for full production?

Gaunt made one for a Car badge.... this one is the the larger ORs type and too big for the new badge I would think?

Thumbs up The Royal Lancers Motto

G'day Griff and other guys

Sorry I have been off the air again for ages and have got on today via the Upwey Belgrave RSL Military Museum's Computer where I volunteer.

Griff I am blown away by the photos and just can't waite to get my hands on some. I reckon this is a great outcome, the Motto could have disapeared for ever.

As usual thanks for putting the photos up and Rob and Andy thanks for your input as well.

regards

Phil.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Griff I think I have emptied my in box and can acces it again off this computer.
