Default Norway troops in exile cap badges

I thought people might be interested to see some variations of this badge. It bares the monogram of King Haakon 7th, all are 36 mm x 36 mm.

First example: British made, diestruck whitemetal.
Second example: stirling silver officers badge made by Gaunt in 1942. It seems that the 1943 made examples are hallmarked a bit closer to the bottom of the badge.
Third example: diestruck whitemetal, odd L-shaped flat lugs. Likely of Norwegian manufacture; period unknown.

Here's some more information about Norwegian troops in exile.

So far 3 more silver cap badges have been located, all made in 1942. I would like to find out if examples exist from a different year of manufacture.
During that year there were between 237 (1st January 1942) and 387 (1st January 1943) officers, so it's a fairly scarce badge.

Default Norwegians near Liverpool

Hi Luc - Seeing the mention of Norwegians has prompted me to ask whether you can shed any light on the attached picture. It is a typed letter on flimsy pink paper and has a Kings Crown, bronzed Royal Marine officers 2 piece cap badge fixed to it. I think you can probably read it but, generally it is from a father to his son and says that it is the cap badge of the commanding officer of a Norwegian Unit that was near Liverpool at some time.
Unfortunately it is undated.
I wondered whether that may have been WWII era or shortly after?
Any knowledge of who/what the unit/commanding officer may have been?
Yours Aye
Ray

What a wonderful badge Ray!

To be honest I'm not sure, I've had a look at the various locations of the Norwegian commando's, and the only possibility I see is when they were taking parachute training in 1944. I assume it was at Ringway airfield which is more or less near Liverpool.

I'm sure that the name of the original owner can be found.

Default No luck so far

Thanks Luc
I bought it through Ebay a few years back and was really pleased with it. Unfortunately the seller couldn't shed any light on it and I have checked with a couple of guys in RM Historical Society with no luck.
Tried to contact the RM museum but they would not entertain email queries.

Its a nice 'historical' piece to spruce up the cap badge display. Have attached a couple of other pics of pieces I use to turn my badge cases into something a bit more special to me:
A RMLI leave pass, signed & dated 1889 - and what would appear to be confirmation for an order of new collar badges, circa 1962. With this one I tried to find out more - who would have been the author etc, again no joy.

Hi Luc, I have book "The Linge Company" but couldn't see it in your attachment. The book gives potted histories of the men but no real indication who they were other than having a high casualty rate. Any information or direction to some site would be welcome, Mike Sorry just googled it, but still doesn't say a lot.

Kevin, thanks. That brings the score to 1942: 5 known examples, other dates: zero.
