Does the caption in the photo shown in post no. 2 mean that a single flash was worn on the helmet albeit on left or right side or does it mean that they were worn on both sides at the same time?

Hi Leigh single flash on the Topee pagri and 2 on the top of each sleeve when the NY ended up in Flanders as the 12 Yeomanry Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment.
