Guards Parachute Wings
Does anyone know if there is a formal (NSN'd) version of the No 1 dress parachute (or SAS parachute) wings for the Guards scarlet tunics - or is it simply a private purchase piece from unit tailors?

Certainly in my day (80s 90s) it was an issued badge and not private purchase. Guardsman returning from a successful 'P' Company would deliver their tunic to the Tailors shop and the badge would be supplied by and applied by the Regimental Tailors.

I have looked through 4 issues of JSP768 published between 2000 and 2016 and the only badges listed that are possibilities are shown below.
The parachute wings are listed for the Life Guards Full Dress The SAS wings are listed for No1 Dress But both could be worn on Foot Guards Full Dress? Tim

Alan,
Sorry for not being clear, ofcourse the wings are awarded after the parachute jump course but we always referred to it as P Company within the Battalion when someone went away for the training and returned with a pass. Regards Simon. |
