Default HELP WANTED ON AIR FORCE BADGE

Hi Gents,
Help wanted on identifying this button please. I have this button in white metal & brass. This particular white metal button has an unusual fitting on the back made by Dowler.
Wonderered if it was Mess Staff?
Many Thanks in advance.
Colin

That's the first time I've seen one of those backing plates "in use" on a button (I think the one I have on a WWI GS button for wear as a cap badge is different.
I picked up a few a couple of months ago though I don't think they had manufacturer marks.

The rear plates appear to be much later than WW1

Sorry I can't help with the button but an image of the back without the plate could be helpful.

Yes (I have what I take to be an WWI version which is different to the one shown).

Hi Gents,
Just about managed to take a picture for you in the fading light.
Not very good I'm afraid but I think you can just about make it the image out.
Many Thanks
Colin
