Default Liberated today 75 Years ago.

Looking closer at an auction purchase a couple of years ago I found this provenance.

I'd say nice, it certainly looks it but I know little of these helmets although I have 2 or 3 Luftwaffe lids.
It looks like the area around the LW transfer has been rubbed clean rather than a layer of paint removed to reveal the eagle?
You're obviously happy with the provenance - I wonder if the date is per UK or USA - day or month first?
Given the date, presumably UK?

Default Hello

The reason it looks a little different around the transfer is soon after I got the helmet I took the surface muck off with warm soapy water but didn't want to go near the transfer.

Thought so, it didn't look as if it was "dug out".
