Well, from my point of view, that the original inspiration for Peter was killed is a bit of a bugger really, he was, certainly destined "to never grow up" but, that was the appalling reality for almost a whole generation really, very sad indeed, a loss felt in every street, in every town, truly shocking.

Well precisely, the boy who never grew up.
"To die would be an awfully big adventure" it puts a horribly poignant spin on it. |

I forgot to add, I think that particular nickname is still unfair, notwithstanding, all of your interests.

Hi Michael,
I think that's a great question. As a lifelong collector, I just love collecting and passions have changed over the years but military history has always been the strongest theme. Current active (sort of) collections are: Militia buttons Shropshire insignia & photos Black Watch badges Medals to my family name Webley self-loading pistols Wilkinson guns BSA Lee-Speed rifles Militia shako plates Single malt Scotch whisky Although I never seem to do well with the latter as it keeps 'evaporating'.. Gosh writing down that list is scary - no wonder I'm always broke... Cheerio, Roy.

Like Peter, I collect to my home town regiment which is the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. I prefer concentrating on one theme but each to their own!

I don't blame you, they were just so good, the Boers often referred to them as the devil's own, with good reason too.

To change the topic slightly, I am mostly a British badge collector but if you look to the top of the pages, I recently published a book on South African Naval badges, so your collecting themes can really go all over the place...
