Actually none according VTC regulations and those for the later Volunteer Force. What you may have here is possibly a button hole badge for wear with civvies, even though it has a lug/button skank.

VTC uniform buttons were either plain or of the leather football pattern and to-date in all the photo's concerning VTC units I've never seen a "unit" pattern button.

I have both large and small Suffolk VTC buttons, which I presume were to be worn on uniforms, you cannot always believe what was in regulations, the uniforms I believe were mainly private purchase and any enterprising manufacturer would almost have certainly offered various VTC units their own style of buttons. As to whether they were allowed to wear them depended on the Senior Officer.

Interesting that you should say "Leamington Volunteer Defence Corps", as this would pre-date admission into the C.A.V.T.C. and therefore as an indepenent unit they would be exempt from any rules or regulations.

On admission into the C.A.V.T.C., all of these independent units included "VTC" in their title;- i.e. Newcastle-on-Tyne Citizens Training League became Newcastle-on-Tyne V.T.C. and so on.

I've also got a reasonable collection of Mufti badges, and you're post has prompted me to get my camera out and put together an album. I'll get busy over the next couple of weeks and see what I can do!

That's the one!

Mine is very shiny gilt, but exactly the same, even down to the JR Gaunt stamp across the back.

Every VTC collector I've spoken to about this badge is satisfied that it's a proper VTC item, but so far no documentary or photographic evidence of it being worn. Any contributions from the forum in this regard very welcome indeed!
